Flawed, dangerous, unfair Satellite TV Regulation

Local lives put at risk and local businesses harmed

Pinal County TV Market Modification Petition submitted to the FCC!

On 20 December 2023, the Pinal County Board of Supervisors approved the TV "Market Area Modification" PETITION FOR SPECIAL RELIEF for submittal to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The Petition has been sent to the FCC and the clock is ticking for the FCC to respond and take action per their standard procedures to either support the County's request or deny it.

It has taken 11 years to get to this point. In January 2013, I began trying to get Congress to fix the flawed, dangerous, and unfair "Satellite Television Extension and Localism Act" (STELA) legislation that it created. I also attempted to get the FCC to modify the TV "Designated Market Area" (DMA) for southern Pinal County. Unfortunately, Congress could not fix what it created and the FCC could not change the DMA without a change in the Federal law. In 2015, I began working with Pinal County to get a petition to the FCC prepared and submitted.

Thanks to everyone who contacted the Pinal County Supervisors over the years in support of this Petition. Many thanks to the Pinal County Board of Supervisors, staff, and attorneys for preparing, approving, and submitting this Petition.

Now we wait...
