Subject: focus problems Sent: Friday, December 26, 2008 17:11:24 From: frank (frank13@bellsouth.net) I got a new meade 2114 and in the daylight it works good but at night when i focus in to anything i get the vaves and secondary mirror in the foreground? Is my telescope bad? HelpMike here: I suspect you are making a common new-user mistake. When you turn the focus knob you want to MINIMIZE the size the object, NOT make it LARGER. Aim the telescope at a bright star and focus until the star is basically a pinpoint of light.
Subject: broken autostar mount Sent: Tuesday, December 23, 2008 14:24:56 From: Joshua Friedberg (joshuaef@mac.com) i came across your website searching for info on a broken autostar mount. i purchased a meade ds-2090 off ebay specifically for the mount, but the az motor doesn't work. i took it apart, every appears to be in working order, the motor runs, but the worm drive doesn't seem to contact the drive gear mounted in the bottom of the base. if you can suggest any resources to get this repaired (meade no longer services the unit), or even just have internal pictures of a working unit that i could compare against that would be a huge help. thanks for your time, happy holidays! josh friedbergMike here: I don't have a DS telescope so can't help directly. If you want to try to get a replacement part, try Telescope Warehouse (link on the Astronomy Links page).

Subject: Question Sent: Saturday, December 20, 2008 04:40:51 From: Vivian Doublestein (vdoublestein@mafa.net) I don' know if you can answer this question or not, but my husband has a Meade 114EQDH telescope and would like to find a tracking module for that telescope. Is there such a thing, and if so where might I find it? I was looking at your Auto Star page and am not even sure if that's what I'm looking for. Any information you could give me would be most helpful. Thank you. Blessings, Vivian DoublesteinMike here: First, as noted on my ETX Site Home Page: "Read the Email Etiquette page BEFORE sending email or your message may be deleted UNREAD as SPAM and possibly returned to you as "undeliverable"." Your email was rejected as SPAM and deleted UNREAD due to the ambiguous and SPAM-like Subject line. But I accidently discovered it in my TRASH folder. So, please read the Email Etiquette item. Thanks for understanding.
And:
Sorry, I never saw the e-mail etiquette section on the page I was directed to from E-bay. I'll try to find this article on your site. Thanks for your help. I appreciate it.Mike here: eBay directed you to a specific page on my ETX Site? Which page?
And:
Yes, wow.... I"m not sure what the actual page was. I was on E-bay looking for the tracking modules and saw the Autostar device. When I clicked on it, it brought me to your page...well I'm not even sure if it WAS your page, but it had a listing of all related items and then your e-mail address for more questions. I think that's why I never saw the information you referred to. What is your actual site? Then I can go there and find the article you mentioned in your previous e-mail. Thanks vivianMike here: The ETX Site (in my email signature) is http://www.weasner.com/etx.
Subject: Meade DS-90 Help? Sent: Wednesday, December 3, 2008 17:58:06 From: Kevin F. Butler (kfbutler@cox.net) I have a Meade DS-90 telescope and unfortunately the upper locking ring released when I took the dust cover off and the two large lenses fell out. I've tried putting them back but obviously don't have them in the correct order or alignment as I get nothing but a blur when I look through the scope. I called Meade and was told they no longer carry the spec sheets for the DS90 model and recommended I try online forums to find the spec sheets or someone who could assist me to put the large lenses back in the correct order and alignment. Can anyone please help? Thanks KevinMike here: I don't have a DS-90 so can't help directly. Hopefully someone will respond.
