Subject: Jupiter with SAC IV on a clear, cold night in Dallas
Date: 1/7/04, 08:13
From: Lonnie Wege (lonnie@wege.tv)
Once again thanks for your efforts on maintaining your fantastic site.

I had AUTOSTAR issues so I sent the 497 back to Meade, so I am currently
using the original controller. This has turned out to a kind of
blessing, it has made me take the time to do a very accurate polar
alignment. Here are the results from an unguided, RA tracking ETX 125
and a SAC IV using prime focus. I did both color and B/W to compare. I
got Io in the B/W shot. I used Registax to combine images, Adobe
Photoshop Elements to edit. The shots were taken with the gain set about
1/4 the way up, brightness about the same. I used 1/30 shutter speed so
I captured several images in a short period. Even living in Dallas, I am
ready for spring, but your sure do get clear skies when it's cold and
still.
