Subject: Autostar Easy Align Sent: Thursday, September 11, 2008 09:32:51 From: John Farrant (johnfarrant@gmail.com) The following commands, written into a suitable program, will send (via RS232) date and time to the ETX. After this the tracking will start. Then the telescope will slew to the first alignment star selected by the Autostar. Then you take over as usual. #:SC 09/11/09# //enter your correct date pause 1 sec #:SL 18:16:56# //enter your correct time pause 1 sec #:ES11034#:EK68#:EK13# pause 1 sec #:EK09# pause 1 sec #:EK13# pause 1 sec #:EK13# pause 1 sec #:EK13# pause 1 sec #:EK13# pause 1 sec Hope this is useful. Thanks for all your hard work in maintaining the site. Regards John
Subject: re: Autostar Easy Align Sent: Saturday, September 20, 2008 18:44:01 From: richard seymour (rseymour@wolfenet.com) For the curious, John's technique is invoking Setup/Targets, and scrolling down to "Astronomical" Then it taps "enter" (to select the above), then "mode" (which brings us to Select/Setup) then four "enters" which walks us through the (pre-set) Time/Date/Daylight prompts, and Align/Easy (or Align/Auto) prompts. But: the supplied sequence hinges on the Autostar being loaded with v41Ec through v43Eg of the firmware. (for the :ES to invoke Setup/Targets) I was going to say that it -only- worked with v43Eg, but i just riffled back through a number of versions, and it appears to operate successfully back to, but not including (or beyond) v40Ef There's no guarantee that it will work with future versions, but we'll just have to wait and see... have fun --dick

On the Page http://weasner.com/etx/autostar/2008/commands.html I found some serial Menu command to go throu the Menu : #:SC 09/11/09# //enter your correct date pause 1 sec #:SL 18:16:56# //enter your correct time pause 1 sec #:ES11034#:EK68#:EK13# pause 1 sec #:EK09# pause 1 sec #:EK13# pause 1 sec #:EK13# pause 1 sec #:EK13# pause 1 sec #:EK13# pause 1 sec My question now : Do you have some more "Menu hopping" commands or is there somewhere a document about this commands ? I could not find any information about this ... Kind regards MichaelMike here: There are aeveral articles on AutoStar "commands" on the Helpful Information: AutoStar Info page on my ETX Site.

From: richard seymour (rseymour@wolfenet.com) >> Now I am searching more of this :EK13# entering direct menu commands. :EK number# Keypad: the number is the decimal ascii number of the keycode assigned by Meade to the keys. Beyond the obvious 48 through 57 for the "zero" through "nine" keys, the other codes are: :EK13# [enter] :EK10# [enter held] :EK9# [mode](escape) :EK11# [mode held] :EK71# [goto] :EK25# [goto held] :EK68# [scroll down] :EK85# [scroll up] :EK63# [help] :EK48# (zero) :EK49# (one) :EK50# (2) :EK51# (3) :EK52# (4) :EK53# (5) :EK54# (6) :EK55# (7) :EK56# (8) :EK57# (nine) :EK87# [left slew] (W) :EK69# [right slew] (E) :EK78# [up slew] (N) :EK83# [down slew] (S) --------------- have fun --dick
