FIRST ANNUAL MIGHTY ETX STAR PARTY Last updated: 11 September 2001

Both Nightfall and the Mighty ETX Star Party will continue as scheduled. None of us involved will yield our Freedom as a result of the events of 11 September 2001.

Over the past few years there has been some occasional discussion of the possibility of holding a star party for ETX users, where many of us could get together to share experiences, learn new things, and to meet other ETX users in person. And now with DS users joining in the community on this web site, they would be included. On 30 April 2001, I announced the

FIRST ANNUAL MIGHTY ETX STAR PARTY!!!

Time is getting short! Plans are proceeding on our first Star Party. It will be held on 14-15 September 2001, in conjunction with the "Nightfall" Star Party, at the Palm Canyon Resort in Borrego Springs, California. Details on hotel reservations and the Nightfall event are on the Nightfall web page (http://www.rtmc-inc.org/2001nightfall.html).

The Moon phase will be 3 days short of New and so reasonably dark skies should prevail. And all the late Summer, early Fall constellations and objects will be in fine view.

This September will be the Fifth Anniversary of this ETX Site going online so we will be celebrating that as well as getting together for some ETX and hopefully DS telescope fun and education. In addition, we will have the opportunity to look through some other telescopes (belonging to others attending Nightfall) as well as letting others see just what our "mighty" telescopes can do.

• Maybe some surprises...

If the weather turns out to be lousy for viewing, we'll have some alternative events in the evenings.

If attending, let me know whether you will be bringing a scope (and which model). Also, let me know from where you will be traveling from. If you have a talk you would like to give let me know that as well.
