Subject: 2 Good Books Sent: Wednesday, August 9, 2006 17:13:46 From: Edward B. Phillips (edward.phillips@knology.net) I have just purchased to books that found to be worth the money, Sky & Telescope's Pocket Sky Atlas and Double Stars for small Telescopes. Both are published by Sky & Telescope. The pocket atlas is a must have the only negative is the pages are not laminated. The atlas is color coded with black star on white background. I have included a few excerpts from the atlas, so you can see for yourselves. In the stores the altas is plastic wrapped making it hard to decide if you want it or not. Amazon has it for $12.99 with free shipping. The Double Star for small telescopes is a nicely laid out book with 2,100 double stars listed with RA and DEC coordinates and details information on each. Also the introductions cover basic rules and hints for observing double stars. The book is more a database with book, it get straight to the point. Excellent, just the way I like it. The only thing is I wished they would have included a CD with the double star database. I have included a few excerpts from the book. Amazon has it for $19.77 with free shipping. Edward B.
