Subject: ETX can not be fixed on tripod #884 Sent: Wednesday, November 22, 2006 03:56:44 From: Henrik VAN HOLTHOON (henrik.van.holthoon@wanadoo.fr) As promised the solution to my fixing problem #884 to ETX. ETX can not be fixed on Tripod #884 It is not possible to fix solidly the ETX on tripod #884. I think that the fixing screws are not correctly assembled that means the threaded axes going in the knob of the fixing assembly is not far enough lowered down into the black knob body. The consequence was that even if the fixing crews where fully turned in I could still move the ETX up and down about 2 to 3 mm in polar mount this is not acceptable. The spring clips are stopping the screws going further into the ETX base in my case the distance from spring clip to surface fixing knop is to large, 3 to 4 mm. The problem is solved in the following way; I took the screw assemble apart by removing the spring clip, washer and spring, unscrewed the fixing assembly from the tripod base plate, it has the same thread as the ETX base and put a hard plastic washer between the tripod base plate and the knob of the fixing screw. The diameter of this washer is not very important but should be close to the diameter of the fixing screw my washer is 4 mm thick the hole for the fixing threaded axis is 6.5 mm. Now the problem does not exist anymore the ETX is solidly fixed now. If you do have this problem in solidly fixing the ETX on the #884 tripod do not bother your are ok with your ETX. Have fun Henrik
