This is what I did a simple dc motor 1:60, 60 turn of the motor is one
turn of the driving shaft.

But it is not easy there is not a lot of space between the focus shaft
and base, you should buy a DC motor as short as possible and then make a
connection between de focus shaft and the motor axis you will need a
latch for that I am afraid to make bus to connect the 2 axis's together.
You need also 4 pole double switch to select the focus direction in or
out.
