Love your site - it gave me worlds of great input

I started to do the fixes you recommend but found I had a problem that
did not appear in any other discussions. The screws that hold the brass
gear box in place would not tighten. The boss was not just stripped - it
was broken and gone !

I wrote up a repair document that is attached with pictures etc. [Microsoft Word doc]

I hope this can help someone

Next is the project of collimation. I have found a few instructions but
what is the best one that talks in super simple basics with many
pictures?

THANKS

Mike here: There are some collimation articles on the Helpful Information: Telescope Tech Tips page. Some have images showing what star tests should look like. None have photos of the ETX disassembled to actually do the collimation; there are just word descriptions of the process.

Go back to the Tech Tips page.

Go back to the ETX Home Page.
