Subject: FW: #1247 Electric Focuser Sent: Friday, February 9, 2007 08:19:01 From: Mark Emery (mark.emery@lineone.net) Just a bit of a heads up for you regarding the #1247 Electric Focuser for the ETX125PE, please see below email from Meade Europe, I asked about it's availability in Europe having been told that US based Meade dealers cannot sell outside of the US or Canada. It seems a little strange that Meade list the unit as an accessory in the ETX125PE handbook and then say it's not suitable for the PE series scope. I will follow this up with Meade and advise you of the outcome. All service concerns for Meade Telescopes sold in Europe is covered by Meade Instruments Europe. Regarding the #1247 focuser, this device is unfortunately not suitable for the ETX-PE series and therefore discontinued! With best regards, Meade Instruments Europe GmbH & Co. Could you advise why the Electric Focuser is not suitable for use with the PE edition of the ETX125 Regards From: Meade APD Service [mailto:service.apd@meade.de] Sent: 12 February 2007 09:11 Dear Mr. Emery, I have to apologize if there is false information in the U.S. manual. In Europe, we write in our (German) manuals and also on our official homepage www.meade.de that the ETX focusing motors are not suitable for the PE versions! I await your comments Regards Mark Emery
Subject: Model 1247 Electric Focuser on ETX PE Model Scopes Sent: Sunday, March 11, 2007 16:13:02 From: Art Braun (art_braun@hotmail.com) With respect to the warnings posted on the site on incompatibility of the Model 1247 focuser with the EXT PE Scopes. I have an ETX 90 PE. I installed the Model 1247 focuser on the scope with absolutely no problems at all and I have been using it successfully for about four months now wth no problems. It is quiet and works with the supplied handset and my AutoStar 497 handbox. I actually bought my 1247 focuser on Ebay. It works well and I'm quite happy with it. It replaced a Scopetronix Flexifocus which I liked a lot. I like the 1247 better, especially for astrophotography. Best regards Art Braun
