Some LXD55 users have sent me examples of their astrophotography. If you have some examples you would like included here please send me a description of how you made the astrophotos and a copy of the images as GIF or JPEG files (due to internet email gateway issues, please send only one image file per message or ZIP or Stuff multiple files). Send to mweasner@optcorp.com. Alternatively, if you have created your own web page with your examples please let me know and I'll include a link to your site.

Lunar Eclipse
I enjoy your web site and the LXD 55 site.  Currently I have a LXD-55 AR6 and a LX200 10" each has distinct advantages as we all know.  I took this picture using my LXD55 AR6 during the November eclipse.  The AR-6 was dead on, not even sure what I did right or wrong but during the whole evening it seemed that the moon stayed in my field of view, and I have 80 to 90 pictures I took that night.  I used the LXD55 AR6 as I mentioned and a Nikon CoolPix 995 with a 26 mm lens and a 28 mm digital camera adapter ring from TeleVue.  I tried so many different exposure combinations and filters that I couldn't really tell you what I was set on that night.  I did however use the Nikon remote release for all the pictures and 85% turned out great.

Lunar Eclipse
Here are a couple images taken during the Lunar Eclipse. The first is a composite of two exposures; a 3 second for the penumbral portion and a 10 second for the ubmra. I Just happened to get the second exposure just before some clouds rolled in, but they were in a sparse band, moving through in under a half hour, during which I still took pictures. The second image is one of the pictures I got through a break in the clouds.
I used a 35mm SLR at the prime focus of my AR-6, photographing on Fuji Sensia 400 color slide film. The compsite was assembled and processed (heavily) in Photoshop, while the single exposure only had some minor unsharp masking done to clean up the detail.
