POINT-n-SHOOT CAMERA MODIFICATION FOR ASTROPHOTOGRAPHY

Subject: Hacking Point & Shoot Cameras Sent: Friday, December 30, 2011 19:21:46 From: Ron Harries (rharries@telus.net) I have tried, probably a dozen times, to remove the lens from point and shoot cameras in order to use them for astrophotography. It has worked about 10% of the time on old cameras. However, when disconnecting the ribbon cable to the lens on some of the better P & S cameras like Nikon Coolpix, the camera will totally shut down. Can you or anybody tell me, and others, how this can be avoided. Ron Harries Salmon Arm, BC
