i can't think of a reason it shouldn't work
(except, of course, the LPI camera driver... that stopped working with
Vista).
I don't have a W8 system for ground-truth testing. (i didn't spend the
$15, W7 is good enuf for my non-touchscreen).
My usual advice is "please try it and report"

StarPatch should be equally happy (and/or happier).  ASCOM is happy.

There's really very little difference in Win8 from Win7 from the
program's point of view.
The primary differences are increased protection (any "well behaved"
program won't have issues) and the touch-screen nature of the primary
screen interface.
