Some ETX users have sent me examples of their astrophotography. If you have some examples you would like included here please send me a description of how you made the astrophotos and a copy of the images as GIF or JPEG files (due to internet email gateway issues, please send only one image file per message). Send to etx@me.com. Alternatively, if you have created your own web page with your examples please let me know and I'll include a link to your site.

if you are interested, here some pictures from the eclipse Oct. 3, taken in Madrid. The images from 10:53 to 11:09 are takten with an EXT90 with an 40mm superview Ocular using a Canon S2IS. On the other image the shadows forming rings are nice to see. |

I had my un-modified Uni-Brain web cam put in the 26mm eyepiece of my ETX-90 and took some pictures of the solar eclipse as seen from southern Sweden. I have posted timelapse movie of the first half of the ecplise here, homepage.mac.com/larshelmin/iMovieTheater62.html Clouds came during the second half and typically left just as the ecplise ended |

Here's a couple of eclipse-related shots taken today from our residence here in Nairobi - feel free to post them on the site if you think they would be of interest. When we set up the ETX-125 out in the driveway I put on the solar filter and made sure to the point the right-angle viewfinder off to the side. Only after locating the sun did I realize that not only could we look at the eclipse through the eyepiece, but the viewfinder also projected a perfect real-time image on the wall next to the scope... very handy for all the folks who had come over for a look! One image shows the telescope setup - you can make out the image projected against the wall. Other image is a closeup of the projection, taken a few minutes before maximum eclipse here, which occurred at 11:22 UT. |

Here is a collage of the eclipse from two photos. The eerie red color of the background was the results of shooting a digital image through a pair of solar glasses. The eclipse was through my ETX90. |

Here are three pictures from the Solar Eclipse on April 7th 2005, taken from my back yard
in Harlingen Texas. We had a forty percent coverage.
All photos taken from my ETX 125 using a Canon Digital Rebel with a scopetronic Digapt All were color corrected, using Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0 and reduced in size I shoot in RAW format for the actual originals. I have included one original( put into jpeg format) for comparison. Heavy cloud cover came in during shooting, part of the reason for Solar 3 to look hazy. Solar one was the first shot I took that day and out of 60 plus photos it was the best. Great site, truly it has a life of its own. A true testament to its founder. |
