LETTER TO CONGRESS
Posted: 27 August 2012
On 24 August 2012, I sent the following to my Congressional Representative:
Subject: Light Pollution
The US government needs to set standards for lighting (in coordination with the International Dark-Sky Association). Light Pollution is no longer just a serious impact to astronomy (professional and amateur) but current research is showing serious environmental, health, and energy impacts from unneeded and wasteful night-time lighting. I am beginning to suspect it also plays a significant role in global climate change. The EPA needs to take the lead on reducing the serious detrimental effects of Light Pollution, just as it does for other forms of pollution.
Response Required: Yes
I will post an update here if any response is received.
