During my absence the first half of September I was on vacation in Alaska. The following photographs are some of the hundreds of photographs I took during our visit. Eventually I will more (non-astronomy related) posted on www.weasner.com.

Mars and the Moon
Nikon Coolpix 995, 1sec, ISO 400, no zoom. Taken onboard the ms Statendam cruise ship sailing in the Gulf of Alaska. Mars (left) and the Moon were almost due South and near their highest altitude for this latitude.

Mars and the Moon
Nikon Coolpix 995. The Moon was shot at 1/1000sec, ISO 800, with full optical zoom. Mars was shot at 1 second, ISO 400, with full optical zoom. Mars was digitally inserted into the Moon shot (in the right location) using GraphicConverter.

Nikon Coolpix 995, normal 1x lens setting, ISO 800, 60 seconds, Noise Reduction enabled, JMI Piggy-back Camera Mount, ETX-90RA. Some digital editing in GraphicConverter (adjusted levels and enhanced red contrast).
