LEVELING THE 884 TRIPOD

After a lot of goto errors which seemed rather random at first, I finally noticed this: the 884 tripod, (at least mine), is not "exactly" level in the default alt/az level position. That is, by leveling the tripod BASE UNDER the polar mount tilt plate the telescope mounting plate was not level North to South. This was a very small amount but it transferred into substantial goto errors due to the telescope not being exactly level in 360 degrees of rotation. For me it was a simple fix; a thin flat washer under the "stop" of the polor mount bar.
