I also looked into the reliability of alternative devices and was not satisfied with the results. My design has the following features: - Max. Focus Screw Speed = 37 r.p.m Controller provides speed variation of 0 to max. in both directions. Joystick provides direction control with centre off position. Motor control shows no detectable over-run when switching to off position. Power for the focuser is a 9v. battery contained within the handset and accessed via a slide-off panel on underside. The focuser gives smooth & reliable operation with no OTA shake. Used with a CCD camera and a Bahtinov mask designed by Niels Noordhoek plus "Bahtinov Grabber", the focuser gives fast accurate focusing. For further information and supply please email me at mike_shuter@sky.com Thanks for a great site, I've read it from top to bottom and still keep re- reading. Regards Mike Shuter.
