I used a 3.5" PVC pipe clamp and a spreader bar made out of paint
sticks! Underneath the finder shoe I glued a small block of wood to
help hold it. The whole spreader is glued together using wood glue (no
screws) and then trimmed with my sliding compound miter saw. Black
paint was then applied.

The pipe clamp is lined with double sided tape and stuck to the tube.
It's only purpose is to allow enough surface area to get a good bond. I
also stuck some tape underneath the spreader bar. A couple of bolts and
screwing the finder base to the spreader finished the job. Be careful
when tightening the bolts, the tape is what is supposed to hold it not
the clamping action!

This ETX 70 will be used as a "point to" scope for my larger scopesA
laser pointer bracket will go into the syntax finder shoe. Oh and the
ETX is sporting my "drain pipe" lens cap!
