Subject:	Skywatcher 127mm Mak and LXD55 Mount
Sent:	Sunday, January 30, 2005 08:20:59
From:	David Mann (davemann@uk2.net)
I have recently acquired a Skywatcher 127mm Mak OTA and want to attach
it to my LXD55 mount. The connections on the bottom of the OTA is
totally different to the Dovetail bar and tube rings on my 6" SN meade
tube.

Do you have any ideas or contacts that would be able to help get the
tube connected.

Many thanks in advance

Dave
Mike here: Check http://www.scopestuff.com. They have lots of rings and dovetails.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll have a look.

Subject:	Sand Paper????
Sent:	Monday, January 24, 2005 15:01:42
From:	David Guibert (PlutoVIP1@cfl.rr.com)
I recently had an electrical short inside my LXD-55 mount. I took it to
my friend who owns an electronics shop and he did find the short (a
rubbed wire shorting out on the motor block). However he did find and
showed me the other problem. One of the optical wheels is rubbing up
against the optical reader and basically is acting like sand paper. He
didn't have a hex key small enough and I have one just a hair too big
and the other is too small. Do you know what size key is required to
loosen it so I can drop it down a bit. And where I might find one. I
called Meade and the gentleman on the other side had no idea. They just
replace them and throw out the one you send. I can't send them mine I
just had a Hyper-tune and Teflon bearings put in.

Mike here: Sorry but I don't have the measurement. Maybe someone else does.
Subject:	alcohol left spots on UHTC corrector
Sent:	Sunday, January 9, 2005 10:58:40
From:	Matt McEwen (mbmcewen@bellsouth.net)
First, let me say thank you for the wonderful resources on your site. I
have an sn-8 with UHTC optics that I was collimating the other day. I
accidentally got two beautiful fingerprints right on my corrector.
Before thinking, I grabbed the isopropyl(undiluted) and clean cotton
balls and got the prints offjust spot cleaned. However, in the
aftermath, in the right light from the right angle I see two darker
purple spots on the lens..as if it were hazed over before and I just
cleaned the haze off in two places. I hate to think that I rubbed the
uhtc off in those two small spots, and I think it is unlikely, but it
doesn't look like streaking either. It really looks like my lens was/is
slightly hazy and I cleaned the haze off in two places, making a
clearer, darker purple.

What do you think?

Thanks very much in advance,

Matt McEwen
Mike here: Undiluted alcohol might have dissolved some of the coating. You might want to try the cleaning solution from Dr. Clay Sherrod. You can read more about the OPT kit or how to make your own solution on the Accessory Reviews: Miscellaneous page on my ETX Site.
Subject:	Autoguiding LXD55 Mount
Sent:	Sunday, January 2, 2005 14:27:10
From:	Curtrw (crw@skyweb.ca)
I'm interested in autoguiding my LXD55-SN10 using the Meade DSI for
imaging through the SN10. The autoguider would be through a 80mm ST
scope. My question is, will the Meade®Pictor 201XT CCD Autoguider
work on this mount as is, or will I need some kind of relay box to make
this work?
Mike here: If you can connect the autoguider to the serial port on the Autostar, it might work; I'm assuming the autoguider will send LX200 commands to the Autostar, many of which the Autostar will understand.
