First Annual David H. Levy Arizona Dark Sky Star Party
Posted: 28 October 2019
Friday, 25 October
Before Friday's sessions started Scott Roberts and I posed for this photo in the Kartchner Caverns State Park Gift Shop.
Fred Espenak spoke on "Solar Eclipses".
David Levy talked about his personal "A Nightwatchman's Journey".
That night I headed back to the Park to do some astrophotography with a D850 DSLR and 24mm lens mounted on a sky tracker.
Milky Way, f/2.8, 1 minute, ISO 4000
Andromeda Galaxy (top), Double Cluster (left) Pleiades (bottom), f/3.5, 1 minute, ISO 6400
I was taking another exposure, f/3.5, 1 minute, ISO 4000, when a bright meteor appeared, which then brightened and exploded. Unfortunately, my image, which was slightly trailed due a mount glitch, only caught the beginning of the meteor to the right of the Andromeda Galaxy (near center).
Andromeda Galaxy, f/3.5, 1 minute, ISO 4000
Go to Saturday, 26 October, and Sunday, 27 October.
