1846 MST: LX600 ON, StarLock OFF, High Precision OFF.

Viewed M42 (Orion Nebula), 102X.

1852 MST: relaxed on observatory patio bench to watch the stars come out as the sky darkened.

1920 MST: back inside the observatory.

The Winter Milky Way and the Zodiacal Light were very distinct this night.

1923 MST: viewed NGC2359 (Thor's Helmet), 102X.

1935 MST: the Zodiacal Light was visible to near the Zenith.

Mounted the D850 DSLR at prime focus using the Filter Slider, added the UHC filter, focused on the star Sirius, and locked the 12" telescope primary mirror.

1949 MST: StarLock ON.

Took StarLock autoguided, 5 minutes, ISO 12800, White Balance 4550K, exposures of NGC2359 (Thor's Helmet Nebula) through the UHC filter (left) and OIII filter (right). Merged the images, cropped, and rotated the image for the final image.

Then took StarLock autoguided, 5 minutes, ISO 12800, White Balance 4550K, exposures of M97 (Owl Helmet) through the UHC filter (left) and OIII filter (right). Merged the images, cropped, and rotated the image for the final image.

2032 MST: StarLock OFF.

2044 MST: viewed M97 (Owl Nebula), 102X.

2045 MST: LX600 OFF.

2054 MST: did a sky quality reading and reported the result to Globe at Night.
