12" f/8 LX600 w/StarLock
2" 24mm UWA eyepiece
2" 5.5mm 100° eyepiece
Camera:
D850 DSLR
1849 MST: Relaxed on the observatory patio bench.
1852 MST: Sunset.
1900 MST: LX600 ON, StarLock OFF, High Precision OFF.
Viewed Venus, 102X and 443X.
Prepared the D850 DSLR for imaging later.
Viewed Mercury, 443X. Nice crescent phase.
1915 MST: High Precision ON.
Slewed to NGC2613 (galaxy), first imaging target for the night.
1918 MST: Returned to the patio bench to watch the stars come out.
1945 MST: Back in the observatory.
1952 MST: NGC2613 (galaxy) was faintly visible in the twilight sky, 102X. Mounted the D850 DSLR at prime focus, focused on the star Sirius, locked the mirror, and slewed to NGC2613.
2001 MST: StarLock ON.
Took the following StarLock autoguided images (5 minutes, ISO 3200) of these Herschel 400 Catalog galaxies:
NGC2613
NGC2655
NGC2681
NGC2683
2056 MST: StarLock OFF.
Viewed some Herschel 400 galaxies, 102X: NGC2742, NGC2768, NGC2775, NGC2782, and NGC2787.
2120 MST: LX600 OFF.
2130 MST: Took a Sky Quality reading and reported the result to Globe at Night as part of International Dark Sky Week (15-22 April).
