Open: Monday, 29 May 2023, 1908 MST Temperature: 83°F |
Session: 1877 Conditions: Clear, breezy |
Equipment:
12" f/8 LX600 w/StarLock
2" 24mm UWA eyepiece
2" 5.5mm 100° eyepiece
2" 2X Powermate
2" 30mm eyepiece
Camera:
iPhone 13 Pro Max
1913 MST: LX600 ON, StarLock OFF, High Precision OFF.
Viewed Venus, 102X, 443X, and 887X.
Mounted the D850 DSLR on the 2" 5.5mm eyepiece using the Levenhuk adapter. Took this afocal 887X image of Venus using the Camera app (1X lens).
1928 MST: Sunset. Calm now.
Viewed the waxing gibbous Moon, 102X. Took this handheld iPhone afocal 102X image of the Moon using NightCap Camera (ISO 34, 1/5900sec, 1X lens).
With the iPhone mounted on the 2" 5.5mm eyepiece, took this afocal 887X image of the crater Copernicus using NightCap Camera (ISO 500, 1/50sec, 1X lens).
I then did some lunar terminator observing, 887X.
1946-2015 MST: Relaxed on the observatory patio bench while waiting for the sky to get a little darker.
2016 MST: High Precision ON.
Viewed M101 (galaxy), 102X and 81X. Supernova 2023ixf was still visible although fainter than it was during previous observations. I tried to image the galaxy and supernova using the iPhone but the moonlit sky was too bright.
Took a final look at M101 and SN2023ixf, 81X and 102X.
2047 MST: LX600 OFF.
