Open: Tuesday, 5 September 2023, 1828 MST Temperature: 84°F |
Session: 1920 Conditions: Clear |
Equipment:
12" f/8 LX600 w/StarLock
2" 24mm UWA eyepiece
Focal reducer
Camera:
D850 DSLR
Prepared the D850 DSLR for imaging. Then I relaxed on the observatory bench and reviewed this session's Barnard Objects I planned to image and observe for my Barnard Objects Project.
1846 MST: Sunset.
1935 MST: LX600 ON, StarLock OFF, High Precision ON.
Viewed M8 (Lagoon Nebula), 102X.
1938 MST: Back to the bench while waiting for the sky to get darker.
1950 MST: Back at the 12" telescope. Mounted the D850 DSLR at prime focus + focal reducer, focused on the star Altair, locked the telescope primary mirror, and then slewed to my first Barnard Object imaging target.
2000 MST: StarLock ON.
Imaged the following Barnard Objects, StarLock autoguided, 5 minutes (except B285 and B289, which were 3 minutes), ISO 1600. Images shown in black-n-white.
B284
B283
B285
B286
B287
B289
I then imaged M8 (Lagoon Nebula), which has three Barnard Objects, StarLock autoguided, 5 minutes, ISO 1600.

Last, I viewed Saturn, 102X.
2139 MST: LX600 OFF.
2150 MST: Took a Sky Quality reading and reported the result to Globe at Night.
