Posted: 1 June 2024

Open: Friday, 31 May 2024, 1903 MST
Temperature: 83°F
Session: 1978
Conditions: Clear

Equipment:
12" f/8 LX600 w/StarLock
2" 24mm UWA eyepiece
2" 30mm eyepiece

Camera:
iPhone 15 Pro Max
D850 DSLR

Prepared the D850 DSLR for imaging later.

1913 MST: Relaxed on the observatory patio bench.

1929 MST: Sunset.

2000 MST: LX600 ON, StarLock OFF, High Precision OFF.

SYNCed the AutoStar on the star Arcturus. Slewed to Epsilon Corona Borealis to prepare for imaging T CrB in its pre-nova stage.

2006 MST: Back to the bench while waiting for the sky to get darker.

2030 MST: Back in the observatory. Starhopped to T CrB, afocal 81X. 2043 MST: I think I identified T CrB.

I then attempted to image T CrB with the iPhone and then the D850 DSLR. Unfortunately, there was a pointing error. Will make another attempt on the next session.

Slewed to Barnard's Star. I had previously imaged it on 10 June 2013 and 17 September 2019. Tonight's StarLock autoguided image, prime focus + focal reducer, 30 seconds, ISO 6400. The star's rapid motion is evident in the images.
