Monday, 12 August 2024, was mostly cloudy with thunderstorms in the area beginning late afternoon. Tuesday, 13 August, was clear until mid-day when two thunderstorms popped up (0.12"). Wednesday, 14 August, was mostly clear late afternoon. I opened Cassiopeia Observatory for my 2000th session in my SkyShed POD since First Light on 18 August 2009.

12" f/8 LX600 w/StarLock
2" 24mm UWA eyepiece
1.25" 15mm eyepiece

Camera:
iPhone 15 Pro Max

1815 MST: Dome Cover OFF.

1818 MST: LX600 ON, StarLock OFF, High Precision OFF.

Viewed Venus, 102X and 163X. A slight gibbous phase was visible.

Mounted the iPhone 15 Pro Max on the 15mm eyepiece using the 3-axis adapter. This is a stack of 2127 video frames taken with the Camera app (slo-mo, 240fps, 1X lens), afocal 163X.

Viewed the waxing gibbous Moon, 102X.

1841 MST: Relaxed on the observatory patio bench.

1856 MST: iPhone photo (2X lens) of the Moon and observatory.

1910 MST: Back in the observatory.

1911 MST: Sunset.

Viewed the Moon, 102X.

Took this handheld iPhone afocal 102X image of the Moon using the Camera app (1X lens).

Did some lunar observing, 163X.

Mounted the iPhone 15 Pro Max on the 15mm eyepiece using the 3-axis adapter. Took these afocal 163X images using the Camera app (1X lens).

Took a last look at the Moon, 102X.
