Clouds returned on Wednesday, 30 October 2024. Thursday, 31 October, was clear.

Prepared the D850 DSLR for imaging.

1815 MST: LX600 ON, StarLock OFF, High Precision OFF.

Viewed Venus, 102X.

Viewed Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS (C/2023 A3), 102X and 81X. A nice tail was visible.

Attached the LiDAR Cover on the iPhone 15 Pro Max and mounted the iPhone on the 2" 30mm eyepiece using the 3-axis adapter.

1827 MST: StarLock ON.

Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS, afocal 81X, iPhone 15 Pro Max, Camera app (Night Mode, 30 seconds, 1X lens).

1829 MST: StarLock OFF.

Viewed the comet, 271X and 102X.

Mounted the D850 DSLR at prime focus + focal reducer, focused on the star Altair.

1845 MST: High Precision ON.

Slewed to the first Barnard Object to be imaged this session.

1850 MST: StarLock ON.

Took the following StarLock autoguided images of Barnard Objects (dark nebulae), 30 seconds, ISO 6400.

1921 MST: StarLock OFF.

Observed (or tried to) the following Barnard Objects (dark nebulae), 102X: B335, B336, B337, B142 (Barnard E), B143 (Barnard E), B338, B339, B340, and B341.

1944 MST: High Precision OFF.

Viewed Saturn, 271X.

Attached the LiDAR Cover on the iPhone 15 Pro Max and mounted the iPhone on the 2" 9mm eyepiece using the 3-axis adapter.

Saturn, afocal 271X, NightCap Camera (ISO 320, 1/60sec, 1X lens).

Viewed Neptune, 271X and 102X.

2020 MST: LX600 OFF.

2028 MST: Took a Sky Quality reading and reported the result to Globe at Night.
