Subject: ETX90RA Sent: Wednesday, June 12, 2013 20:31:19 From: Bert Denovan (ngc104tuc@bigpond.com) I finally found someone willing to sell their ETX90RA and he tells me that it still has the packing box that it came in. I have yet to close the deal which seems to be a foregone conclusion, but now I can't find anyone anywhere who has or knows where to get a mount for it. Any ideas? Bert Western Australia.Mike here: The Meade #884 tripod "should" work, although there was a report years ago that the said someone had a #884 that didn't fit the screw holes in the ETX-90RA base. I haven't tried mine #884 with my ETX-90RA (it is mounted on a #883 tripod). There are some mount tips on the Helpful Information: Telescope Tech Tips page and the Accessories Reviews: Tripods page; those that are earlier than 1999 will certainly be applicable to the ETX-90RA.

Thanks, Mike. The problem I have is finding an #884 or #883 tripod anywhere.Mike here: Have you checked BinTel or the other Australia telescope dealers? Links are on the Astronomy Links page. You could also try Telescope Warehouse (link on the Astronomy Links page).

Yes, Mike. Been all over Australia including Ice In Space (IIS) where I got the lead to the scope.Mike here: Might find one on eBay.
Subject: ETX90RA Sent: Friday, June 7, 2013 02:15:58 From: Bert Denovan (ngc104tuc@bigpond.com) I have been thinking long and hard about the first telescope I had - ETX90RA. I was in a hurry to get a goto model and sold it cheap and then went on to bigger things. Now I long for that old scope. It was so simple to use and the optics were great. Do you ever hear of any for sale these days? I am wondering what the gears might be like now too. Cheers! Bert. Western Australia.Mike here: The ETX-90RA is still cherished by many. There are usually some available in the used marketplace, such as eBay and elsewhere. The gears are the same as they originally.
And:
Thanks, Mike. Bert.
