GUEST SOLAR ASTROPHOTOGRAPHY

Some ETX users have sent me examples of their astrophotography. If you have some examples you would like included here please send me a description of how you made the astrophotos and a copy of the images as GIF or JPEG files (due to internet email gateway issues, please send only one image file per message). Send to etx@me.com. Alternatively, if you have created your own web page with your examples please let me know and I'll include a link to your site.

I thought you might find this interesting: feel free to link to my http://www.thefirmament.nl/etx70_piggyback.html page as I think my piggyback solution might be useful for other ETX owners too. On this nice sunny Sunday afternoon the Sun was very low for me: altitude 14.5 degrees only. Because of this low altitude I had to leave my observatory and image outside the village where I live; this was the first time the my PST rode my ETX70, but I yet have to tame the ETX70 as the tracking was quite erratic, so it took a lot of time before I actually could start imaging. Because of this I could not capture other AVIs - e.g. of the Solar disk - as meanwhile my laptop battery gave up :-[ The ETX70 piggyback platform is here: http://www.thefirmament.nl/etx70_piggyback.html and the image of the prominence is here: http://www.thefirmament.nl/sun_ha.html and for a while also here: http://www.thefirmament.nl/recent.html Groetjes/greetings from The FIRMAMENT Observatory Mike here: I also piggyback my PST on an ETX (ETX-90RA). Works great! Nice to hear so ! I bet that on an ETX90 you have just a bit more space to work 'around the OTA' than with the ETX70. Mike here: I also piggyback my PST on an ETX (ETX-90RA). Works great!
Nice to hear so ! I bet that on an ETX90 you have just a bit more space to work 'around the OTA' than with the ETX70.
