Venus, Moon Imaging

12" f/8 LX600 w/StarLock
2" 24mm UWA eyepiece
2" 9mm 100° eyepiece

iPhone 15 Pro Max
D850 DSLR

1814 MST: LX600 ON, StarLock OFF, High Precision OFF.

Viewed Venus low in the western sky, 102X and 271X. A slight gibbous phase was visible.

Mounted the iPhone 15 Pro Max on the 2" 9mm eyepiece using the 3-axis adapter. Used the Final Cut Camera app (1X lens), which provides full manual control of focus and exposure, to do video recordings (240 fps). This is a stack of 2582 video frames from one of the videos.

Viewed the waxing gibbous Moon, 102X.

Took this handheld iPhone afocal 102X photo of the Moon in the bright blue sky using the Camera app (1X lens).

Prepared the D850 DSLR for imaging. Mounted the D850 at prime focus of the 12" telescope.

1844-1907 MST: Relaxed on the observatory patio bench while waiting for the Sun to set.

1910 MST: Sunset.

1914 MST: Took this highly saturated image of the Moon showing colors of minerals on the Moon's surface, 1/320sec, ISO 200.

Then did some lunar observing, 271X.

Mounted the iPhone on the 2" 9mm eyepiece using the 3-axis adapter and took these afocal 271X images of the Moon using the Camera app (1X lens).

Lastly, viewed the Moon, 102X.

1929 MST: LX600 OFF.
