Equipment:
12" f/8 LX600 w/StarLock
2" 24mm UWA eyepiece
2" 14mm 100° eyepiece
2" 9mm 100° eyepiece
2" 5.5mm 100° eyepiece
Camera:
iPhone 15 Pro Max
1807 MST: LX600 ON, StarLock OFF, High Precision OFF.
Viewed Venus, 102X.
As the International Space Station (ISS) rose in the southwestern sky, I took this iPhone 15 Pro Max photo (Night Mode, 7 seconds, 1X lens, handheld) of the ISS, Venus, and Cassiopeia Observatory.
I then viewed Venus, 102X, 174X, 271X, and 443X. As I viewed the planet at each magnification I projected the planet onto the observatory dome and took these iPhone photos (Night Mode, 3 seconds, 1X lens, handheld). The planet is still a long ways from the Earth and so appears small on the dome.
I then viewed Saturn, 443X and 102X.
Next, I viewed the Moon, two days before Full, 102X.
Took this handheld iPhone afocal 102X image of the Moon using the Camera app (1X lens).
Did some lunar observing, 443X. There were several nice sights along the terminator, although the seeing was not very good. This handheld iPhone afocal 443X image taken with the Camera app (1X lens) shows Rimae Grimaldi area at the center.
Lastly, I projected the 102X Moon onto the observatory dome and took this handheld iPhone photo (Night Mode, 3 seconds, 1X lens).
1900 MST: LX600 OFF.
