Some ETX users have sent me examples of their astrophotography. If you have some examples you would like included here please send me a description of how you made the astrophotos and a copy of the images as GIF or JPEG files (due to internet email gateway issues, please send only one image file per message). Send to etx@me.com. Alternatively, if you have created your own web page with your examples please let me know and I'll include a link to your site.

we saw nothing here in Munich, Germany of August 1st Solar Eclipse because of heavy rain, but could catch Lunar Eclipse on August 16th. When the eclipse started we had lots of clouds veils. My wife and I decided to just sit in our deckchairs without using a telescope - and it was a nice view. But of course I did some photgraphic shots with SAMSUNG DX-1l DSLR, 300mm, ISO1600, f/5.6 and between 1/250 to 1s exposures. As it was only a partial eclipse and about 20% stayed in sunlight, the colors did not show up as in a total eclipse. This is a little animation... |

And my clearest shot at about 22:40 CEST (stack 3 images, 1/4 & 1/2 & 1s, resized 150%) |

I shot about 50 photos of the March, 2008, lunar eclipse through my camera lens while in Orlando, Florida. The two I am sending were the best. |

It rained all day on February 20th, and I was worried that we wouldn't get to see any of the lunar eclipse. I set up my trusty ETX 60 and performed a "fake" alignment in the living room, and waited for a break in the cloud cover. Caught a moment or two of totality, and I ran outside with my scope, found the moon, grabbed my old Nikon Coolpix 4500 and managed to capture these images. Exposure setting varied, and the images were flipped horizontally in Photo Shop to correct orientation.
Hope you had an unobstructed view from Oracle! |

Here is a photo I took with my Nikon D200 last night from my home in Connecticut. It was shot on a tripod at 120mm, ISO 100, f/6.3 and a 3 second exposure. Regulus (above) and Saturn (Lower left) formed a triangle with the moon. |
