Smartphone Sky Astrophotography

I mounted my iPhone 6s Plus (with add-on wide-angle lens) on the SkyTracker Pro using a Levenhuk Smartphone Adapter. The Earbuds are used as a remote shutter release with the iPhone.

No counterweight is required for the iPhone, but I elected to leave it attached for convenience as most of my SkyTracker Pro astrophotography would be with the DSLR.

I used the iOS app NightCap Pro for the following iPhone 6s Plus sky astrophotography tests.

Sidereal Rate tracking was good and allows for nice constellation photos to be made with a smartphone (and a good night sky photography app). Half Sidereal Rate tracking will allow some foreground objects, depending on distance, to show less blurring.

The SkyTracker makes a nice accessory for iPhone sky astrophotography.
