Last updated: 25 May 2009

Some ETX users have sent me examples of their astrophotography. If you have some examples you would like included here please send me a description of how you made the astrophotos and a copy of the images as GIF or JPEG files (due to internet email gateway issues, please send only one image file per message). Send to etx@me.com. Alternatively, if you have created your own web page with your examples please let me know and I'll include a link to your site. You will also find astrophotography examples on the Helpful Information - Astrophotography page.

This is my first dso astrophoto. m42 with etx 80 and dsi-c. 18x15s processed with envisage. I tried to capture as much nebulosity as I could, hence the overexposed core. taken feb. 22/09 from my dark sky site near Teulon, Mb., Canada. BTW the temperature was -22c. with a light breeze. My observatory offered some protection from the wind but still, brrrrrrr. Can't wait until I get my warm room setup.

Here is a photo I took last night using the 125PE and DSI. I was able to get a much focus now that I am using the JMI Electric Focuser. Getting a good calibration as mentioned in my other email certainly made a huge difference too. They were all taken in Alt/Az alignment.
I did some more post processing on the Orion Nebula. I think it looks a whole lot better than the one I sent you yesterday.
This was taken in FTS format with the DSI. It is only 22, 2 second exposures. It looks like FTS is the way to go. It amazes me how much detail can be brought out of an otherwise dark image with some careful post processing.
