Some ETX users have sent me examples of their astrophotography. If you have some examples you would like included here please send me a description of how you made the astrophotos and a copy of the images as GIF or JPEG files (due to internet email gateway issues, please send only one image file per message). Send to etx@me.com. Alternatively, if you have created your own web page with your examples please let me know and I'll include a link to your site.

On 27 June 2005 there was a very close conjunction between Mercury and Venus. It was one of the closest and most beautiful planetary conjunctions of the past decades (for N Hemisphere). I couldn't even separate the two objects with the naked eye as Venus glare covered Mercury. These are three photos of the conjunction captured on 27 June 2005 near 16:20 UT (~ 90 minutes before sunset). Both planets appear in the same photo as they were only 4' apart. Two different camera settings were used to show more clearly Mercury's phase 61.16% (brighter photo). Venus surface brightness +1.1 / Mercury surface brightness +3.1 (Mercury had 6.3 times fainter surface brightness than Venus). Despite the fact that no filter was used (not even IR cut), some details seem to appear on Venus disk (enlargement). |

Attached is an image from last night (June 25/05) after sunset, when three of Earth's neighbours were gathering in the western horizon (within 1.5 degrees of each other). It was around 10:00 p.m. EST and I was using a Nikon Coolpix 995 (100 ASA @ 3 sec.) to record this image in my backyard just west of Keene, Ontario. Good think I got this image on this evening because the next night was cloudy from my location. |

I am sending to you a picture of the milky way for your sky section. The picture was taken with a Canon EOS digital piggyback on a ETX 125. 30 min exposition ISO 800 and some digital enhancement with APS. Your webpage is great !! BTW , how can you get the time for answer all the mails requesting help ? I suppose that it is an enormous work. |

Attached is a view of the Moon and Jupiter within 3 degrees of each other. This image was taken about 8:15 p.m. EST near Keene, Ontario. There was a thin veil of cloud that really added to the diffuse look of the over exposed Moon, but Jupiter shines through quite nicely all the same. A Nikon Coolpix 995 was used to capture this image and exposure of 4 seconds at a 100 ASA setting. |

I send you three photos of the conjunction of Venus with Mercury taken on three consecutive mornings around 5:00 UTC (40 to 25 minutes before sunrise). I used ETX 125, Atik 1c, and i put the Meade 32mm super Plossl inside the teleextender. Also i used a 0.5 focal reducer. Still the magnification was high so i zoomed out the images to 0.5 at Photoshop. Stacking and aligning was done with K3 ccd tools. |
