GUEST LUNAR ECLIPSE ASTROPHOTOGRAPHY
Last updated: 15 December 2011
Some ETX users have sent me examples of their astrophotography. If you have some examples you would like included here please send me a description of how you made the astrophotos and a copy of the images as GIF or JPEG files (due to internet email gateway issues, please send only one image file per message). Send to etx@me.com. Alternatively, if you have created your own web page with your examples please let me know and I'll include a link to your site.

Hope all is well with you and yours out in the beautiful wilderness of Arizona! Thought I would share a few LPI images I captured of the December 10, 2011 lunar eclipse from San Diego county. All three images were captured using my ETX-60 and Meade LPI. The images were created from 50 images stacked and processed using Meade's Autorstar Suite software. The images were further processed and flipped horizontally to correct their orientation using Adobe Photoshop. This was a very difficult eclipse to image because the moon was setting just as the eclipse was getting good. Hope others further west managed to get some better shots.

The total lunar ecplipse on June 15th, 2011 was a hard job for great parts of Germany. The moon, low in the zodiac and rising already totally eclipsed, was very difficult to catch. The eclipse was avery dark and very red one.
With lots of clouds at my home location I decided to travel around the country side looking for a place with clear view down to the horizon.
It took me two hours until I reached - short before the end of totality - a location to catch a bit of the eclipsed moon (still through clouds)
All pictures done with Fujifilm Finepix HS10 (720mm equiv. focal length)
