GUEST SKY ASTROPHOTOGRAPHY

Some ETX users have sent me examples of their astrophotography. If you have some examples you would like included here please send me a description of how you made the astrophotos and a copy of the images as GIF or JPEG files (due to internet email gateway issues, please send only one image file per message). Send to etx@me.com. Alternatively, if you have created your own web page with your examples please let me know and I'll include a link to your site.

This evening was a great time here to see Mercury after sunset. Even a half hour after sunset, the inner planet was well above the horizon and out shining anything near it. This is the first evening in a while that we have had clear skies in this part of Ontario (just west of Keene) to view any evening skies. I used a Nikon Coolpix 995, 200 ASA, 4 second exposure

For the second time I see an aurora here in Madison, WI, however it is the first time I was happy to catch it with Canon Power Shot S70 (7.1 Mp, 15 sec) on tripod MX 2000. The attached image was finished in Adobe Photoshop 7.0.

Here I'm sending to you a picture with Moon halo, which I captured in Madison, WI on January 13, 2006 (12:37 a.m.) using Canon Power Shot S70 (7.1 Mp) 3.2 sec, TV mode, ISO Speed 100. The JPEG image was finished by Adobe Photoshop 7.0.
