GUEST SKY ASTROPHOTOGRAPHY
Last updated: 28 August 2006

Some ETX users have sent me examples of their astrophotography. If you have some examples you would like included here please send me a description of how you made the astrophotos and a copy of the images as GIF or JPEG files (due to internet email gateway issues, please send only one image file per message). Send to etx@me.com. Alternatively, if you have created your own web page with your examples please let me know and I'll include a link to your site.

Yesterday i had the great chance to catch and capture the ISS connected with the space shuttle Discovery with my ETX!
It was unbeliavable! Tracking was done manually.

I tried the ISS spacestation with the ETX. You have to act quickly because
it's gone before you know it.

I used my digital camera to capture Venus at sunrise.

A nice image for the sky section of astrophotography gallery.
This was taken on May 17 in Monterrey, Mxico ( 25N 100W ). It was very interesting because this type of halos are not seen very often ( at least in Monterrey ).

Here's a shot I took while on vacation earlier this month: Alpha and Beta Centauri and the Southern Cross taken from Ayers Rock.
(The original image -- on-line at http://wa1gsf.net/photography/Australia/originals/CRW_2775.jpg -- looks a lot nicer. But it's 3072x2048 pixels and weighs in at about 2 MB: be warned!)
Details:
Taken at 13:14 on 7-Mar-2006 GMT (22:44 7-Mar-2006 local time)
Canon EOS Digital Rebel (300D) 50mm [80mm effective] at f/2, 30 sec, ISO 400
The view has been rotated 90 degrees clockwise (S is down)
Notes: Beta and Gamma Crusis are double stars. The companions are resolvable (in the original photo). Alpha Crusis is a triple star, but not resolvable at the resolution and magnification used.

looking forward to see your OO report.
Had you a chance to 'catch' the close approach of the young moon with the Plejades with your Nikon D70?
Here in Southern Germany we had snow - snow - snow (may be you saw it on tv)
And you would not believe that - between the snowstorms - there was a gap...
2006-03-05, 19:20 CET, PANASONIC Lumix DMC FZ-30 at ISO 400 with 420mm equivalent focal length, f3.7, composite 1/800s for the moon and 5s for the Plejades
